Halloween Every Day in Tokyo - Harajuku on Parade Like any big city, Tokyo has many huge neighborhoods, each with their own personality. One of the quirkiest is an area called "Harajuku". I dont know if I can accurately describe it, but Ill try! Its a place where the most outrageous of the outrageous congregate. Youve probably seen those Japanese people that like to dress up like anime characters and the like. Well thats kind of the starting point. It goes onward from there, with everything from girls covered in pink frills to goth men wearing gas masks. In fact, in <a href="http://www.stuckincustoms.com/2009/10/13/a-new-kind-of-photography/" rel="nofollow">that little video I made</a>, you can see a pair of legs/shoes in differing colors that I shot in Harajuku. This guy below was with a group of extreme rockers that were parading around the streets. They all seemed to love having their photo taken... which was cool. I could have gone to that place every day to take photos... Arashiyama: Sakura & Togetsu-kyo The Togetsu-kyo, or <i>Moon-Crossing Bridge</i>, is a famous bridge in the scenic Arashiyama area of Western Kyoto. In the spring, one can see a beautiful array of sakura along the banks of the Katsura River on the left, or above the bridge in the mountains along the Hozu-gawa. The bridge and banks of the river become very crowded this time of year as it is a popular place for hanami festivities.

Hell Pond? - Hot Spring Pond "Jigokumeguri" or hell tours becoming a major sightseeing in Beppu. There are several characteristic color ponds of hot spring. bad luck People and Life © Kalandrakas | <a href="http://www.jessleecuizon.com">www.jessleecuizon.com</a> <b>Omikuji </b> Omikuji (御御籤, 御神籤, or おみくじ) are random fortunes written on strips of paper at Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples in Japan. The omikuji predicts the persons chances of his or her hopes coming true, of finding a good match, or generally matters of health, fortune, life, etc. When the prediction is bad, it is a custom to fold up the strip of paper and attach it to a pine tree in the temple grounds. A purported reason for this custom is a pun on the word for pine tree (松 matsu) and the verb to wait (待つ matsu), the idea being that the bad luck will wait by the tree rather than attach itself to the bearer. In the event of the fortune being good, the bearer should keep it. Though nowadays, this custom seems more of a childrens amusement, omikuji are available at most shrines, and remain one of the traditional activities related to shrine-going, if lesser. rolling thunder a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiko" target="_blank">taiko</a> performance, at the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bon-odori " target="_blank">bon-odori</a> festival in Takikawa. Try to imagine the power of 20 giant hardwood drums being struck at the exact same time... you can feel it deep down in your gut! I could easily march into battle to the sound of these things...

Ready for Yokozuna And up and down. Move your feet to the beat! I went for a Sumo tournament some time ago. It was interesting and boring at the same time :) To get one of the highly anticipated tickets I had to get up at 5 am catching the last tickets at 6 am in Asakusa, Tokyo. The Finals were at 6 pm, so 12 hours of constant fighting. Beginning with the bad Sumos until then the Mongolian Yokozunas (two, one for the east and one for the West) finished the tournament. The funny thing was that in the beginning it was allowed to take pictures just from the side where you could see everything and practice shooting with bad light. The ritual until fighting for approximately 20 seconds takes about 5 minutes. Here the Sumo prepares for the fight. Lunch in a box Every working day my sweet wife Alessandra make a bento for my lunch. This is a special lunch in a box for the strobist assignment. Rice, ham, egg, fresh tomato... a little softbox from behind/above and a reflector camera left. I know its a very simple setup but I am here and I have already to do a LOT of things... D. Hobby youll drive me crazy! But really a lot of fun!

A Temple Bar Experience in Kyoto – Japan The courtyard with a spectacular view from the bar inside. Here I drank one of the best premium cold sake ever. Its like in a dream with great soothing music and a solitude atmosphere to relax while you drink. PP: Not a HDR. Long exposure with light contrast & sharpening.
